Kitsy Stratton
I was born and raised in the Carolina Lowcountry. Always fascinated by the natural, physical world, I bucked family tradition and sought a formal education in physics rather than art. As a career scientist with NOAA in Asheville for 22 years, my creativity paired well with my analytical skills to design and write webpages, published reports, and work with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy in creating Press Briefing materials for Al Gore. When I retired in 2003, I set up a dark room and painting studio in my basement and began showing my paintings and photography at craft shows and in local restaurants. Now, 20 years later my techniques and style have evolved and scientific curiosity encourages me to experiment and push my medium, whether it be oils, watercolors, mixed media, or encaustic. I hope you find my work inspiring.
